Cash runway

Cash runway is the estimated time your current cash will last, based on expected inflows and outflows.

When cash outflows exceed inflows, a simple version divides your cash balance by the average net cash going out each week or month. This metric relies on cash movements rather than reported profit figures.

A profitable business can still face a short runway if customers pay later while payroll and loan payments are due now. The number shifts whenever collections, spending, or financing change. A cash forecast, such as a 13-week cash flow forecast, tracks it week by week.

The 13-Week Cash Runway Snapshot on this site builds a weekly view from numbers you enter. It provides an estimate only.
